// High Impact Group
A portfolio of AI-native platforms, built from the data pipeline up to the interface you work in. Real data, AI that interprets it and design that credits you with intelligence. We don’t talk about the future. We build for it.
You formed your view on AI eighteen months ago. That view is already outdated. Roles are broader, expectations are higher and the gap between the leaders who adapt and the ones who wait now shows up in the numbers.
High Impact Group
// How We Build
We engineer the intelligence first and build the interface around it, rather than retrofitting AI onto a legacy tool.
You set the quarterly commitments and your scorecard tracks against them. Your coach sees that same data before your next conversation, and so does the briefing your team reads.
You will not need a training manual or an implementation consultant. Every platform works on day one with opinionated defaults, then adapts to the person in the chair and the decisions they face.
// What We Build
These ventures are not a list. They are a line.
High Impact Group was built on a thirty year arc. Its founder started as a telecommunications engineer in the energy sector, spent fifteen years as a Partner at KPMG, then ran customer and digital for a state government where the first public sector AI platform in Australia was delivered. gridIQ is energy market intelligence. Mireto is AI disruption intelligence. The same judgement anchors the advisory practice, built on our own future readiness framework. They are not separate bets. They are one thesis built into software: energy and infrastructure, transformation at the highest level and AI engineered by the firm rather than bought from someone else.
Each venture solves a different problem. Together they arm individuals and organisations to decide faster and compete harder as AI resets their industries.
One AI disruption intelligence engine, offered three self-serve ways. Track the frontier free with a weekly intelligence brief. Run a self-serve AI Disruption Snapshot on your own organisation, scored across eight weighted dimensions with named peer research, from $549. Or deliver the whole platform to your own clients under your firm’s brand. Complete AI Strategy, the full board-ready build, is always delivered through a partner, never self-serve.
Six specialist AI advisors scan your organisation in parallel, score exposure across eight dimensions with named peers identified through live web research, then conduct a structured strategy workshop. A single weekly brief argues out what matters across five research rails: model releases, adoption, regulation, patents and public spend.
Replaces $20,000-a-seat desktop software and five-figure consultant Scope 2 reports with one subscription covering all six NEM and WEM regions. Watt, an AI analyst with 72 specialist tools, answers plain-English questions from live and historical AEMO data and writes fresh market briefings every morning. ASRS-aligned Scope 2 with native NEM12 meter file ingestion. PPA backtesting across four contract structures, load shift optimisation, smart alerts, professional analytics and a REST API.
Watt has 72 specialist tools covering live prices, generation, carbon, FCAS, interconnectors, weather, load windows, PPA evaluation and more. Daily market briefings at 06:30 AEST and a free weekly newsletter (Watt's Week) every Monday.
How the country is tracking, in 50 metrics across eight categories (economy, housing, health, society, government finances, business, demographics and innovation), scored, traffic-lighted and charted back to 2000. A free, non-partisan dashboard co-stewarded with an Australian not-for-profit partner as part of our Social AI commitment. Updated weekly from ABS, RBA, AIHW and other authoritative sources. No accounts, no paywalls, no spin.
Bob, the platform’s AI data concierge, answers questions about Australia’s performance using specialist database tools. Every number traceable to a specific government source. No hallucinated statistics.
// Advisory

// Inside Mireto
Mireto scans any organisation and delivers a multi-perspective AI disruption assessment in minutes. Track AI's impact on your sector for free through a weekly intelligence brief, run a self-serve AI Disruption Snapshot on your own organisation, or deliver the whole platform to your clients under your firm's brand. Six AI advisors, each modelled on a C-suite archetype, analyse your exposure across eight dimensions, identify peers by name through live web research and generate a Fast Track strategy from the findings. Complete AI Strategy, the full board-ready build, is always delivered through a partner, never self-serve.
A 0–100 score across eight weighted dimensions: workforce replaceability, competitive displacement, digital exposure, market velocity, proprietary data advantage, switching costs, regulatory moat and brand strength. Calibrated rubrics with hard boundaries make the score reproducible, so the same inputs return the same result. It measures how much is about to change, and leaves the verdict to you.
One engine, three ways in. Analysts and in-house teams track the frontier through a weekly brief. Organisations self-assess with a published-price Snapshot. Advisory firms deliver the whole platform to their own client book under their own brand.
One argued read on the week in AI, synthesised from model releases, adoption signals, regulatory movement, patent activity and public spend. Free weekly; a paid tier adds full evidence, trend-lines and sourcing.
Six advisors modelled on C-suite archetypes (strategy, technology, revenue, leadership, people and finance), each bringing a different lens to your AI challenge. They know your industry, your scan data and your maturity profile. Ask anything.
Threats and opportunities reference your actual competitive landscape. Peer organisations identified by name through live web research, with AI adoption signals extracted from current news, job postings and web content, tied to the organisations you compete with.
Six dimensions of internal readiness, data, technology, talent, governance, culture and strategic clarity, scored against industry benchmarks. See exactly where you lead, where you lag and where to invest first.
Two levels of deliverable from one Snapshot. Fast Track turns the findings into a self-serve strategic playbook. Complete AI Strategy adds a full diagnosis, board thesis and implementation plan, reviewed and signed off by a senior strategist before release, always delivered through a partner.
Purpose-built for businesses, government departments, universities and NFPs. We adapt the language, frameworks, benchmarks and recommendations to your entity type, because a government department's AI exposure looks nothing like a retailer's.

// Inside AustraliaMetrics
AustraliaMetrics pulls from authoritative government and international sources, scores metrics across key national categories, tracks every state and territory and serves it all through a free, non-partisan dashboard that a minister or a year-12 student can read without training. It runs without accounts, tracking cookies or advertising.
Economy, housing, health, society, government finances, business, demographics and innovation. Each with scored metrics, sparklines and full time-series charted back to 2000. A “Getting Better” and “Getting Worse” homepage that surfaces what is improving and what is deteriorating across the whole country. Historical charts overlaid with political context: Labor and Coalition terms shown for reference, not blame.
Every metric gets a green, amber or red rating based on its 10-year baseline and recent trend. Economy, housing, social outcomes, government finances, business, demographics and innovation, each with sparklines, full time-series and drill-down detail. No jargon, no interpretation required.
All eight states and territories compared across key metrics with leaderboard rankings. See which jurisdictions are leading, which are lagging and on what. State-level drill-downs with the same traffic-light scoring and charting as the national view.
Monthly shelf prices of everyday grocery items from Coles and Woolworths. Basket price trends, year-on-year change and item-level comparison. Prices observed on shelves rather than modelled or seasonally adjusted, as a ground-level complement to official CPI figures.
Ask Bob anything about the data in plain English. “How is unemployment trending?” “What’s happening with housing costs?” Bob pulls the numbers and explains what they mean, in plain language, in seconds. Hard guardrails: no financial advice, no political commentary, no forecasting. Dry Australian wit included.
Data from the ABS, RBA, AIHW, ASIC, World Bank, OECD and more. Automated weekly pipeline with carry-forward handling for quarterly and annual data. A dedicated Data Status page shows exactly when each metric was last refreshed. Full methodology documentation and configurable scoring weights.
Calculated indicators you can’t get from a single source: mortgage repayment burden, rental burden, net business formation. Where available, metrics break down by gender, country of origin, crime type and other dimensions. The granularity aggregate numbers hide.
Download any metric as CSV for your own analysis, monthly or native-frequency observations. Font size controls and a high-contrast mode for accessibility.
Social AI: A Civic Commitment
AustraliaMetrics is stewarded as a civic asset. High Impact Group co-stewards the platform with an Australian not-for-profit partner to ensure it remains free, non-partisan and in the public interest, regardless of commercial or political pressure. It is the first initiative under our Social AI commitment: applying the same architecture we build for commercial clients to initiatives that serve the public good.
// Advisory
Board-level and executive advisory for organisations navigating AI strategy, digital transformation, leadership capability and technology-enabled growth. Selective, relationship-based engagements with CEOs, boards, private equity firms and investors who want a straight answer on the decision in front of them.
Engagements are selective, confidential and relationship led, and you work with Chris McLaren directly on the decisions that matter. His record as a KPMG Partner, a state government digital chief and an interim CEO is set out below.
What we advise on
// Founder
Chris McLaren has been on both sides of the decision for twenty five years. Most people advising boards on AI have never built it, and most people building it have never run the organisation that has to live with the result.
He spent fifteen years as a Partner at KPMG across Australia and the United States, leading the transformation of business units measured in billions. As Chief Customer and Digital Officer for the Queensland Government he ran a $675 million, 1,850-person group accountable for digital, customer, cyber and critical infrastructure for the state. Under that tenure Queensland’s digital readiness moved from ninth to fourth, a $200 million Digital Economy Strategy was launched and his team built Australia’s first public sector AI platform.
He has been interim CEO of a US technology company, chaired the North American Advisory Board of UTS and teaches executives at Duke Corporate Education. He studied digital transformation at MIT and holds a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with First Class Honours.
That record is the standard the firm runs to. High Impact Group builds its own AI rather than reselling someone else’s behind a brand, engineering the intelligence first and the platform around it. Every venture starts from the conviction that career produced: AI restructures organisations, and the constraint shows up long before the technology does.
The bottleneck is leadership judgement, not technology.
// Advisory Meets Capability
We sell the strategy and the system that executes it. The Future Readiness framework makes the capability side measurable, and the advisory practice closes the loop: find where the gap sits, then bring judgement to closing it.
The Future Readiness Assessment scores it in about five minutes, free. Executive education and faculty engagements bring it into the room, delivered directly through Advisory.
If you’re a board, investor or CEO ready to move on this, let’s talk.
